FSS Amino Acid
Blend PF
Amino
acids serve as building blocks of proteins and are required for good health.
Amino acids are popular among the food industry and are often added to many
food products and nutritional supplements. Failure to consume enough of these
amino acids can affect a person’s overall health and impair their ability to
heal wounds and repair tissues, which can accelerate the aging process. In this
case, signs of aged, dull skin appear more noticeable, which has made amino
acids a popular additive in many skin care applications.
Not
all proteins are created equal. Amino acids, protein’s most basic unit, respond
differently to weathering processes depending upon the protein source and
molecular structure. Amino acids are hygroscopic, exhibiting powerful moisture
retention properties thus helping skin and hair maintain their natural moisture
levels. Amino Acid complexes can increase the equilibrium moisture content of
hair and influence the moisture transfer to and from hair. The low molecular
weight fractions of amino acids offer moisturization and restructuring
properties that help mitigate hair shaft damage. Since the hair follicle serves
as a reservoir and a major entry point for topically applied compounds, hair
can be reinforced with enriched structure and reflective shine using amino acid
benefits.
Arginine
is known to offer antioxidant properties and assist in maintaining collagen
production. Aspartic acid is used for exfoliation benefits to remove dead skin
cells from the skin or scalp. PCA is known to provide smoothing, hydrating, and
firming properties to the skin, while also providing moisturization for the
hair. Glycine interacts with collagen production to help the body repair
damaged tissue. Alanine is known to balance moisture levels on the skin while
improving hydration and reducing transepidermal water loss. Serine has been
used for skin and hair conditioning, as well as anti-static properties in
cosmetic products. Valine works synergistically with the body to nourish,
replenish hydration, and detoxify skin and hair. Proline is commonly used as a
conditioning agent for hair and skin care, but is also known to strengthen the
hair shaft for stronger, healthier hair. Threonine is known to assist in
creating glycine and serine in the skin, which are two amino acids that are
necessary for the production of collagen, elastin, and other tissues.
Isoleucine is known to offer skin repair benefits to reduce fine lines and
wrinkles, as well as create more supple skin. Histidine is commonly used in
skin and hair care for growth and repair benefits. Phenylalanine is known to
help reduce pigmentation and balance the skin tone. Amino acids work together
to provide an array of benefits for the body, inside and out.
