Menthe piperita, or peppermint, is widely cultivated in the world and is a hybrid mint, a cross between water mint and spearmint. Known for its very distinct aroma, and its uses in holistic health and culinary dishes, peppermint has now made its way into the cosmetic industry as well. Traditionally, peppermint has been used in personal care products as a fragrance. However, with its main components being menthol and menthone, it is now being widely used as a cooling sensation to help induce soothing for sensitive skin, greatly reducing itching and minimizing inflammation. The lipophilic nature and non-toxicity in low dilutions allows peppermint to effectively penetrate the skin, making it a viable topical therapeutic.

Storage:

Store in a dry place at temperatures not exceeding 32°C. Based on stability studies, the optimum storage temperature for maximization of shelf life is 23 - 25°C. However, it may be stored at temperatures between 16 and 32°C if such specific temperature control is not available. Do not freeze.
