Using organic phospholipids, and the latest encapsulation technologies, Arbor Organic Technologies has developed several novel delivery systems. Organic Unloaded Liposome RS was designed as a USDA organic certified solution for targeted delivery, enhanced efficacy, and a tailored consumer experience.
SCIENCE
Liposomes can be used in the delivery of various cosmetic materials, vitamins, and minerals throughout the body, typically to the skin, for an array of advantages such as antioxidant benefits, conditioning, and antimicrobial purposes. The liposomes may attach and fuse to the cellular membranes, releasing their contents into the target cells. Liposomes are microscopic vesicles that consist of an aqueous center with a phospholipid membrane; phospholipids contain a glycerol bonded to 2 fatty acids and a phosphate group with a polar head. The fatty acid portion of this biomolecule is hydrophobic and is located toward the outside of the lipid bilayer whereas the phosphate group is hydrophilic and faces the aqueous interior. These phospholipid walls are identical to those that comprise other human cell membranes.
When non-encapsulated materials are placed on the skin a range of factors determine the fate of the material. Stability, solubility, lipophilicity, and size are all obstacles the active must overcome to penetrate the epidermal barrier. Liposomes, which resemble the basic structures of cellular membranes, create a more beneficial interaction with skin cells. The structure and amphiphilic nature allows the liposomes to penetrate the epidermal barrier and travel deeper than free materials to deliver the anticipated results.
Liposomes can differ in size with a range in diameter between 150 - 3500nm, and they can be found in unilamellar and multilamellar forms.4 While multilamellar structures are great for specific tasks, they are not stable as raw materials or in formulations. Unilamellar vesicles are small, exceptionally stable molecules offering high stability for the incorporation into personal care products.

Tips for loading liposome
This liposome comes unloaded with the ability to load your own desired active ingredient. We recommend using shear force with a Silverson homogenizer to load liposomes. This liposome should be able to handle up to roughly 20,000 PSI safely. However, it’s really impossible to say for sure without analyzing the specific formulation. Although anything under 20k PSI will be fine, customers should always verify that for their particular formula and filling process.
You can add the active directly to the liposome mix. The amount of the active able to be loaded really depends on the nature of the specific active you are using. For example, for a water soluble active, the highest realistic percentage able to load is likely 10% and then 1% for an oil soluble active.
It is also important to monitor the temperature and not overheat the liposome, so as not to disturb the phospholipid bilayer. Liposomes are heat stable up to 50°C.

Lot to lot variation may exist beyond our control due to seasonal weather and resulting crop variations in our supply of the natural plant materials.
Storage: Protected from direct light and humidity at a temperature of 50°-77°F (10°-25°C)
Shelf life: 12 months from the date of manufacture, properly stored, in sealed container.
This product should be added to a formulation at the recommended usage rate.

UnloadedI used the Unloaded liposome before and love it. I will try this since it is organic to see the main difference. When I first purchased the other one, I thought I could load it until I read back. Believe it or not, the benefits are in those phosoplipids!
