FSS Vegetable Hydrolysate OS

Hydrolyzed vegetable protein (HVP) is a widely used ingredient in cosmetics, valued for its diverse applications and beneficial properties. Derived from plant sources such as wheat or corn, HVP undergoes a hydrolysis process, breaking down large protein molecules into smaller peptides. This process enhances its compatibility with the skin and hair, making it a popular choice in cosmetic formulations. One key advantage of hydrolyzed vegetable protein in cosmetics is its moisturizing effect. The smaller peptides penetrate the skin more easily, helping to retain moisture and promote hydration.

Additionally, HVP’s amino acid composition is another factor that makes it beneficial for cosmetics. Amino acids are the building blocks of proteins, and they play a crucial role in maintaining skin and hair health. Amino acids support various processes in skin cells, aiding in repair and regeneration. They also contribute to the formation of keratin, a key protein in hair structure. Incorporating HVP ensures that these amino acids are readily available, supporting the skin’s natural repair processes and promoting healthier hair growth. In addition, HVP is often included in anti-aging formulations. Its ability to improve skin elasticity and firmness makes it a sought-after ingredient in products designed to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. The protein-rich composition contributes to a more youthful and revitalized complexion.

Hydrolyzed proteins from wheat (Triticum aestivum) have shown it to be a highly multi-functional active due to its free-radical scavenging activity, ability to strengthen and repair damaged hair, and surfactant irritancy-reducing capabilities in formulations.

Soybean (Glycine max) protein hydrolysates function as film-forming, emulsifying,

and hair and skin-conditioning agents with use in leave-on skin care products,

hair dyes, bath soaps, detergents, and hair, body, and hand sprays.

Hydrolyzed corn (Zea mays) proteins are used as hair and skin-conditioning agents in cosmetics, being found in a variety of applications such as eye makeup, conditioners, shampoos, moisturizers, face and neck creams, lotions, and tonics.
