Citrus junos, or Yuzu, is a yellow to orange fruit that can be very acidic and tart. The fruit belongs in the same family as oranges, grapefruits, lemons, and limes so they have very similar characteristics. Yuzu is mainly cultivated in Japan, Korea, and China and it is used often in cosmetic and personal care formulations because of the antioxidant it contains.
Yuzu fruit is packed with antioxidants as well as Vitamin C. Antioxidants are valuable additions to cosmetic products as they assist with free radical damage caused by excess UV exposure. Free radicals will increase visible signs of aging such as fine lines, wrinkles, and blemishes. Antioxidants can provide anti-aging benefits for all skin types while also helping to reduce inflammation.
