Background:
Chamomile is one of the oldest and most well-known at home remedies that was used as far back as the time of Hippocrates. The Egyptians, from their belief in its power to cure ague (fever), used it as an offering to their gods. The calming effect of chamomile has been proposed in the broadest meaning of the term.
Chamomilla Recutita is the INCI designation for German or Wild Chamomile for which the correct Latin name is Matricaria recutita (L.). German chamomile, a member of the Asteracaea family, which includes sunflowers, is native to Europe and western Asia, but has also been naturalized in North America. The word chamomile comes from Greek roots with ‘chamos’ meaning ground and ‘melos’ meaning apple. It is a small herb that has wide spread roots and can grow up to 2 feet high. The small white flowers, typically bloom in early summer and have a scent that is reminiscent of apples.
Organic Chamomile RS consists of organic chamomile extracted in Rice Solution. This process provides a product that can be easily incorporated into formulations including lotions, creams, toners etc. Since this is an aqueous extraction, no odor of Chamomile will be in the product. Formulating Guidelines: Add to the aqueous or cooling phase of your formulation.
Storage: Protected from direct light and humidity at a temperature of 50°-77°F (10°-25°C)
Shelf life: 12 months from the date of manufacture, properly stored, in sealed container.
This product should be added to a formulation at the recommended usage rate.
