Ascophyllum nodosum is seaweed found in the northern Atlantic Ocean. It is claimed to be the most active seaweed on the planet and is well researched. Kelp has long fronds with large egg‐shaped air‐bladders. The seaweed grows slowly and can live for several decades. It has long been used as an organic fertilizer because of its macro‐ and micronutrient content (N, P, K, Ca, Mg, S, Mn, Cu, Fe, Zn). It is also host to cytokinins, gibberellins, betaines, mannitol, organic acids, polysaccharides, amino acids, and proteins that are beneficial.
