Organic Rose Water
Roses were among the first plants, if not the first, that were grown for beauty’s sake alone. The practice began in Asia and spread to the Middle East before becoming a gardening trend in European nations1. With such emphasis on the aesthetic beauty of this flower, it is no surprise that there was spiked curiosity in wondering if this plant would impart cosmetic benefits that it so flawlessly portrayed. The rose bush is still to this day displayed as a way to aesthetically enhance gardens, rooms, porches, etc. More impressively, the rose bush tends to bloom in the middle of winter. This quality can be attributed to rose’s distinct ability to absorb moisture in the most brutal, restrictive environmental conditions. Unlike a rose blossom, the skin becomes stressed when subjected to harsh environmental conditions resulting in moisture depletion and an aged complexion.
Rose water is intensely hydrating with a high absorbing level, helping penetrate the skin almost immediately2. Furthermore, rose water can be used topically to reduce the pace of aging. Roses contain topical retinoic acid (vitamin A) that is found in a natural, bio-available form. The retinoic acid found in Rose hip helps promote protein synthesis and cell regeneration2. By increasing the skin’s capacity to produce new tissue and rejuvenate matrix stability, younger-looking skin is achieved. The retinoic acid works to stimulate metabolic changes in the skin and therefore, accelerates normal cell growth. The result of this cell rejuvenating mechanism is a smoother, more radiant complexion and the decreased appearance fine lines and wrinkles.
