Description

FSS BIOPOLYMER WILLOW BARK PET

Growing an astounding 30 m tall, the Salix nigra, or black willow tree is known for its remarkable tenacity. The willow’s root strength and general resilience are but a few of the qualities that highlight it as the most commercially and economically important member of the Salix genus.

Medicinally, the black willow’s extreme bitterness was found to be an effective substitute for Quinine amongst early American settlers. It has been documented that the tree’s inner bark contains the highest concentrate of its active chemical component. Often used in tea or as a poultice, the bark is useful as a natural treatment for cuts, bruises, wounds, and swelling.

Due to its versatility, black willow has become a prime candidate for cosmetic and personal care applications. Willow bark extract has solidified itself as one of the principal herbal remedies to treat pain and act as an anti-inflammatory analgesic agent. Within the cosmetics industry, willow bark extracts are employed as a natural source of salicylic acid to provide benefits such as cellular renewal and antimicrobial properties without the associated irritation typically related to synthetic salicylic acid.

Amorphophallus Konjac, commonly known as the konjac plant, is native to warm subtropical regions of China, Japan and South Indonesia. This nutritional plant traditionally has been used for food and health benefits due to its high content of fiber. Konjac has a starchy root called a corm, which is high in a dietary fiber called glucomannan. This is the part of the plant that is used as a dietary supplement and to make high-fiber flour and jellies. Recently Konjac root have become popular in personal care products for its extensive absorbing and thickening benefits. When it comes in contact with water it is able to absorb and hold moisture on the skin while improving the aesthetic of formulations.

FSS Biopolymer Willow Bark PET can be added into variety formulations such as hair treatments, foundations, facial toners, cleansers, moisturizer, and masks. FSS Biopolymer Willow Bark PET may be utilized to capitalize on the benefits associated with willow bark and konjac root.
