Broccoli is a plant in the cabbage family, whose large flower head is used as a vegetable. The word broccoli, from the Italian plural of broccolo, refers to "the flowering top of a cabbage”. Broccoli was derived from cultivated leafy cole crops in the Northern Mediterranean in about the 6th century BCE and it has been considered a uniquely valuable food among Italians since the Roman Empire. This green botanical is high in potent antioxidants such as vitamin C and beta carotene. In fact, broccoli has the highest levels of carotenoids in the brassica family. Vitamin C and beta carotene are two strong antioxidants that help protect against damaging free radicals capable of accelerating the aging process. Additionally vitamin C has also been shown to increase the synthesis of collagen within the skin to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles revealing a smoother and younger looking complexion. FSS Broccoli Extract PD can be used in a wide range of cosmetic application to provide the conditioning and nourishing benefits associated with broccoli.
