Description

FSS LIME EXTRACT BG PF

Limes are thought to have originated in Southeast Asia and were later transported to Egypt and Northern Africa in the 10th century. The small fruits then made their way throughout Southern Europe during the Crusades. Limes played a crucial role in colonizing the new world due to their ability to prevent scurvy during the long voyage across the ocean. Scurvy is a disease resulting from a severe lack of vitamin C and can cause a variety of problems such as anemia, swelling, and loss of teeth2.

Sweet and sour varieties of limes both provide many health benefits. The ripest fruits have the brightest green peels and contain the highest antioxidant content. Phytochemicals are also present and potentially provide anti-cancer and anti-viral properties. This can assist with skin damage and reducing wrinkles and dark spots. Limes also house a multitude of vitamins and minerals including potassium and bioflavonoids. Medicinally, limes were used as antibiotics, immune boosters, anti-inflammatories, and for heart health1.

Limes are used in cooking, drinks, home remedies, skin care products, and as fragrances. The acidity of lime juice can exfoliate dead skin cells and build collagen while improving overall skin quality. Limes are also used in hair care products to reduce dandruff as well as moisturize the scalp and hair follicles1.

FSS Lime Extract BG PF is a water soluble extract that can be utilized in a variety of skin and hair care products to incorporate the benefits of lime.
