Sodium Chloride USP

Sodium Chloride is a versatile, white crystalline ingredient widely used in cosmetics and personal care formulations. It’s primary role in cosmetics is as a viscosity booster in surfactant-based systems. Cleansing formulations can be difficult to thicken and can become costly if using gums and polymers. Salt helps to thicken certain surfactant-based systems by reducing micelle charge density, promoting the conversion of spherical micelles to rod-shaped micelles. The thickening behavior of surfactant solutions using salt is curve based, and the correct proportion of salt will differ for every formulation.

Finely milled sodium chloride crystals can also serve as a gentle exfoliant in scrubs, helping to remove dead skin cells and polish the skin. The smaller particle size of our Sodium Chloride USP contributes to its gentler nature and is more suitable for sensitive skin. 

This ingredient is cost-effective, easily soluble, and compatible with a variety of formulations. Despite its natural potential to dehydrate, the concentrations used in cosmetics are safe and non-irritating. Storage:
Store in a dry place at temperatures not exceeding 32°C. Based on stability studies, the optimum storage temperature for maximization of shelf life is 23 - 25°C. However, it may be stored at temperatures between 16 and 32°C if such specific temperature control is not available. Do not freeze.
